Hey Don, were commited to the Holiday parade on Dec. 2nd. We will be able to help Sunday. Is the club going to be represented in the parade? Is anyone intrested in riding in the parade?

i think that the concept of giving keys out to members is an outdated one. there is no way to regulate users, or others who come in to an open track. a key gets you in at night for parties, or whatever. the keys have to go.
memberships are good as it gives the track some instant monies for needed repairs and insurance.
i realize we need volenteers but maybe a "team" or "track operators" is more in line with todays concepts.
charging for practice sessions give the track monies and also lets families come out to the track knowing there is some form of supervision.
Families need a place where they can go and have some fun with their kids. Some riders have no respect for rules or others. There is quad spin outs in the parking lot, bikes doing wheelies up and down the lot.
a president is no good without a team, or some support.
the track needs to be advertized and promoted in the newspaper as a family affair. Even just having paid practices and regulated ones will give the track monies and also give the public a new vision of what a supervised track can be.
maybe getting a list of people who buy quads or dirt bikes from the local shops gives us a new memeber list, looking for fresh ideas and new comers will give the track the much needed engery it needs to stay open and be a place for riders in this area.
but i think the old blood is tired and its time for a transfusion.

We are members of Nomads and have not been able to come out for a year, we recently came out to ride and it appears to us that it was more of a friendly and family oriented atmosphere that awaited us. On this track, run by volunteers, it is essential that all members help 'police' the actions of others, ie, respect the speed in the pit and parking ares. We will continue to support Nomads in the future as best we can. Ps. the new web page is great!

The family atmosphere is critical to making the park successful, keeping the track and the trails in good ridding conditions is important to keeping the families coming out. How do we get the equipment out on a regular basis? Will “pay for practice” work? Are there ways to put teeth to the rules without having a supervised track? Do we lock the track and have it open only during specific times under supervision? I hope I’m creating talking points to make the club and the track better. Thanks

First off. At the home page where it says "Nomads MC and atv club", it should be "Nomads MX and atv club".
Now about the track. When you had the tractor come out to "prep" the track it was a great idea but pretty pointless. It was a day when alot of riders didnt come out or didnt get to come out. It would have been much smarter to take more of the money if you have any and had a "ride day". Where you gave every one and every rider a months notice. That way everyone would have known about it. Then, instead of just having a tractor come out you could have a water truck come out as well and charge at the gate like a race. that way people could ride on a nice preped track and i mean a "real" preped track. Like the way it used to be when nomads was holding races. From charging at the gate and having a scheduled practice for each class you would be making money to put back into the track and mabye have a race next time and the riders would finally get a chance to ride on Nomads when it is like a real preped track. I'm sure there are people out there that would volunteer as flaggers and what not. All the parents that come out would mabye volunteer.
The way the track is right now is dangerous. There are alot of big braking bumps into corners and the faces of the jumps are screwed up and kick you foward if you dont hit them in that perfect 3 in. of space.

I would just like to say thanks to Don, since he has stepped up to the plate the effort to get things done is obvious. I hope he stays active in 2007.

As for kids going out riding alone and risking injury with nobody to help...that is what you have insurance for. If a parent chooses to let their child go ride alone after school that is their choice regardless if we agree with it or not. The freedom of choice is what makes this country great. Don't take that away because your afraid that someone will make a stupid decision. I don't know of any other tracks in the state of Arizona with the freedom of NOMADS, let's not loose that.

I plan on attending the clean up Dec 2. See everyone out there.

Just food for thought all members that purchased a key are 18 years or older. Minors that ride at the track are required to have an adult with them while riding the track. All Parents members signed this agreement when they became members. If there are minors riding the track without an adult with them are in violation of club rules. VP Mike Clair

Freedom at the track is great. But even in this country, based on freedom, we have rules, that are inforced. If there is no one to inforce the rules, then what?
2006-11-14 19:10:55 GMT
Author:Anonymous
Mr Anonymous.
The track is a freedow purpose YES, but we as members and officers of the track rely on all the others members of the track to inforce the rules...either talking to the person or calling one of the Officials on your rules sheet...we have a direct number to the sheriff department and we have taken key away. This works if we have the coroperation of EVERYone who is a member...

What will happen if at the election on 2 December no one steps forward to serve on the board? This is supposedly what happened last January. I heard that less than 12 people attended the election. Plenty of folks have no shortage of ideas, but no time to be there when it counts.

I have contacted a guy I know who has been building tracks for 30+ years and he has agreed to come out and help, he runs a track in New Mexico and it is awesome. We have to plan it around his races and the upcoming arena Boo Koo Arena Cross series that he and his kids race. our plan is to get a dozier, a large Loader and a Water Truck. Pres 07' Mike

NOMADS Track will be closed to all members on 2-4 Feb 07 It will reopen at 1pm on the 4th Sunday. The track is going through a major rework to include the trails. The lock will be changed for this period and the member lock will be back on on the 4th at 1pm. Due to the movement of 3 pieces of heavy equipment and working the trails along with the track we cannot allow anyone access to the area. I think all will be pleased with the results, renew your memberships to take advantage of the track when it is completed. As a reminder this is a members only track you must be a member to ride it is $96 per year for the family that gets you a key and 7 days a week during daylight ride time.

Ps no input is required for track changes.

What is the rule on the number of guests a member is allowed? Some members have 3 4 "guests" and these are local people who come with their member friends regularly. There is no enforcement by the club or by members of the gate locking policy. The gate is constantly open. Why pay a membership fee when so many just come for free?
2007-01-30 14:36:12 GMT
Author:Anonymous
If the gate is open please lock it. I always check who is a member when I am at the track and ask those guests why they don't join. If I see repeat guests I ask the sponser member not to repeat as memberships keep the club open. I would hope all members do the same to enforce the rules, the board is small and cannot be their at all times. To those members who always bring the same guests this is not allowed under club rules. Please respect the rules and encourage membership to keep the club open!

I received a report of a member (Not Sure) in a Toyota 4 Runner that hauls his Honda motorcycle on a hitch carrier leaving the gate open when they entered the track and also leaving it open when they departed the track. This is UNACCEPTABLE and in violation of club rules and regulations. It is not difficult to lock the gate behind you and if this continues to be a problem you will lose your membership and have to find another place to ride.

"Hawk" passed away, guys... Out there at the track almost every weekend, with the boys. This is sad stuff. I pulled the obituary from the Sierra Vista Herald; it's a very nice write-up:

Robert Hawkes

July 31, 1958 - March 11, 2007

Robert Hawkes, 48, of McNeal, Ariz., died March 11, 2007 in a tragic dirt bike accident.

Robert was born July 31, 1958 in Phoenix, Ariz.

He is survived by his five sons, Mikel, who is currently serving in Korea, Matthew, Marcus, Mitchell and Micah, all of McNeal; his wife, Bonita, stepdaughter, Cai-Leigh; the mother of his boys, Joy; his mother, Ruth Hawkes of Phoenix; father Robert Hawkes of Tucson, Ariz.; and brothers, Michael (Heather) and John (Carol) of Tucson; sister, Chris; and many nieces and nephews.

Robert was a pool guniter for many years in Tucson and Phoenix and for the past five years he has been employed by Jack Furrier Tire Center in Sierra Vista, Ariz. Robert loved spending time with his boys and riding dirt bikes. You could find him at Nomad’s each weekend, riding with the boys and using his vast mechanic skills to help other dirt bike riders with their bikes.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2007, at the Elfrida Baptist Church in Elfrida, Ariz., with Pastor Mark Snyder officiating. There will be a period of visitation beginning at noon, with funeral services being offered at 2 p.m.

A fund has been set up for Robert’s sons. Donations can be made in his name at Southeastern Arizona Federal Credit Union.

Brown Page Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

I have been reading and hearing the conditions of the track are not good and is not regularly maintained for its members. Does the membership go for track maintence or how is it distributed? We are aware there is over 100 members, and with a fee at $100 per year per member. This should cover maintinence more often. Have you tried to find discount rates or accept members offers to run equipment and/or supply it? I know a member offered his services for running equipment and bring his own equipment with just his fuel coverage asked, do the math fuel coverage is cheaper than renting. He gave his phone number to both the president & vice president and never received a return call. For this being a Non-profit orginization why are you not seeking more community donations or sevices, for instance when was the last raffle, car wash or sale to help maintain the track and hold races. Why dont the officers of the club put more effort into bettering the track and events and not leave it all up to the members.

It would be nice if you signed your name. Any offers are always welcome and folks who offer equip and time are never turned down. Fact is 90% of the time thats all it is. We hold track clean up days and the same 6-7 people show up never the 100 members. The track board have jobs just like others and need members help to fix and clean the track. That 100 you pay goes to land lease, insur, and equip rental to fix the track. In fact if it was not for the races we help this past year we would have no funds. You are welcome to be on the board or better yet offer your services to help with the track.

Hey everyone,

I have been racing now for several years and began to get more serious about the health and training aspect of the whole program. I did some research and found a fairly new product that has given me more energy and an overall greater state of health. Check out this article from Aldon Baker (Ricky Carmichael's former trainer and now James Stewart's current trainer) at http://www.racerxvt.com/virtual_trainer/aldon_exclusive_nutrition.html and about half way down you will see him talking in length about Monavie. This product is in a serious state of growth because the benefits are so great and there are a lot of riders already taking this product. Riders that I know of that are taking Monavie include James Stewart, Davi Millsaps, Nathan Ramsey, Kyle Chisholm, Nicky Hayden and Ricky Carmichael. If you are interested in getting this product you can visit my website at http://www.mymonavie.com/completefreedom/.

Thanks!
